Tips on renting your place during the Olympics

Making the most out of renting your home during the London Olympics should be easy.

Getting your advert ready

Before you upload your photos for the advert make sure your home is looking its best. Tidy up the rooms you're taking pictures of. Turn the TV of as this can make images look messy. Take the picture in light that compliments the room.

Be as descriptive as possible. The more your advert contains the more people will be interested but make sure you have images as this is what people REALLY want to see.

When it comes to putting in your postcode, enter it fully and then drag the little icon on the map that pops up to the exact position. This helps people locate your lodging.

During your adverts lifespan

If you get messages from potential lodgers be sure to reply to them as soon as possible. Keep up with the messages, as this will give a good impression.

Before your guests arrive

Give your home a thorough tidy. Put away anything of value, which is not immediately needed.

Consider a welcoming gift as this will not only start the lodging on a high, it will be remembered and they may leave you a nice tip.

Have spare keys ready for your guests.

If your planning on using a tenancy agreement, have it printed out and ready to sign, but don't sign it until your guests arrive and sign it together. See How to rent your place during the Olympics for more on this.

Enjoy the experience

This is only temporary so treat it as an experience to enjoy. If you didn't get tickets yourself you can share some of the highlights with your guests and get some of the buzz.
